Hi all,

This is to introduce you to the art of blogging! Those of you who find it difficult to talk in class will have problems talking through the blog. Just read through what everyone says. Add a comment, that is called a thread, and others will add theirs. Feel free to post your comments here, say your mind in a civilized way, and let's just have fun on web.
To start with, we will be seeing some movies during this term, and i would want everyone to have something to say. We are going to critique those movies - whether good or bad, and say why. OK?
Come to the class with more ideas for our blog.

Hello Austen,
I admire your plunge with three new blogs!
I like your welcoming photo and greeting, too.
One tiny suggestion might be to change the word "will" to "might" regarding those students who find it difficult to speak in f2f (face to face) classtime -- you and they might find yourself/themselves surprised at how easy and validating and fun it can be to 'talk' on a blog.
Happy blogging!

Hi Austen, this is Erika from Brazil. I was reading your first post and something came to my mind. What if you invited classes from other countries to watch the same movie your students are watching and then you could all share your impressions in the blog. I'm sure they would all have fun. Not sure what your students age English level is, but we could surely find a way to do it. My students love when I invite guests to work with them.

Hello Austen,

It was great chatting to you in skype yesterday. Watching movies is something most students love so I hope you´ll get all the interaction you´re expecting. A suggestion I have is: you could also bring some videos into your posts and invite comments. Videos from Youtube, Google videos or Teacher tube can be embedded in your posts. They have great animations and short movies in youtube that can generate lots of interaction. Good luck!

Dear Austen,
I tried to save some music videos from Youtube, but I failed. How did you do it?

Erika,
I love your suggestion. It would be a pleasant challenge to them. A problem may be the availability of the movies. I'm going to ask as many groups as can to see the movie in question and make comments.

Let this comment serve as an invitation for students from other countries to make comments.

To Holly (Smilin7)
Your ideas are fine with me> I'm going to source for short length movies, and use them as you suggested. Thanks.
AnnA Mara:
I loved chatting with you. You were very helpful and full of ideas. Let's chat some more in future.
Tatiana:
I got the music video from yahoo Music. After each video clip, you will see the html displayed. Copy them all, and paste them to your edit page. when you save you will see. Mine was an experiment and it worked. I'm no expert. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Austen,
It was nice to chat with you on Skype the other day, and I am very happy to visit your blog! Watching movies and sharing opinions about them is a great idea for a class project.

Last year, my students posted some very short movie reviews, and by chance a class in Argentina was writing movie reviews on their blog around the same time! Our classes left comments for each other, and my students in Japan enjoyed the chance to connect with students from Argentina. You can check out our interaction on Movie Reviews

Keep blogging!

Hi Austen,

You have a neat idea there. All the best on this. I am sure it will be a new and fun way for students to learn. A suggestion for further interaction would be to create questions on the movies and test your students on these. You can simply post the URLs of your questions on your blog for students to answer.

Best Wishes,
Jagdeep Singh Pannu
